Re: Will not change bitrate in a project.
"Projects" don't have any particular bit depth. The audio in each track has a bit depth, but you can have multiple different bit depths within the same project. When you Export, the export file format determines the bit depth of the exported file, not the bit depth of the audio in the proj...

Re: Chris's Dynamic Compressor Tutorial
basically all it's doing is dropping copies of the curve down onto the waveform outline as far as they can go without overlapping the waveform. That works for me. with captions under each You're killing me. I'd have to have like a span with a manual line break in there. Oops, sorry :D How about a c...

Re: how to find max & min samples
Unless you are using 32 bit, then it can't exceed +/- 1.0 That's what makes digital clipping so nasty. 1 bit over +1 and you are suddenly at -1 Audacity therefore triggers the clip indicator at 0dB. In the case of one or two single lines, it's no problem. Where the audio attempts to exceed 0dB (or f...

Re: buzzing noise in the background
Some improvement can certainly be made. The first part of this recording is a short extract before de-humming, the second half is after de-humming. The phase problem was fixed as describe previously, then mixed to mono. The plug-in used to reduce the hum was this one (requires Audacity 1.3) hum remo...

Re: Stereo separation / stereo tracks with balanced audio
<<<Audacity will only export a stereo file if the left and right audio channels are different. They only need to be a tiny bit different - just panning one track to the left or right by 1% will ensure that the exported file is 2 channel stereo.>>> OK - I was WRONG!! If there is a 2 channel track, t...

Re: Mono Track To Stereo
<<<many users would think that it turned their mono track into stereo>>> Yes. So? Audacity user: "I've converted my mono track to stereo, but it still sounds like it's mono. What's wrong?" Koz: "Oh good grief, not again - it's sounds like it's mono because it IS mono. When it says 'm...

Re: **SOLUTION** FFmpeg library not detected in 1.3.xx
Thanks again aardvark2zz. It looks like Audacity was latching onto an old version of FFMpeg instead of the new one. Are you saying that all of those files were in the Audacity folder?
