Re: Help me please - can not open my project

You had some weird characters in the id3 tag (metadata). This may have already been in a file that you imported, or you may have just entered some non standard characters if you filled in the metadata yourself.

Re: Will not change bitrate in a project.

What does hldj need?

(For example "16 bit (Microsoft) PCM 44100Hz stereo WAV" )
You need to say the format, the bit depth, the sample rate and mono/stereo.

Re: Crashing Audacity 1.3.9 & 1.3.10 on Mandriva 2010.0

Excellent Kevin, and thanks for the detailed feedback. Purely as a matter of interest, I've now got Audacity 1.3.12 running on my test box which now has a Ubuntu 10.04 (alpha) based system on it. It is pure ALSA+Jack (no PulseAudio at all) and Audacity is running really sweetly with Jack. Of course ...

Re: New Vinyl Getting Skips

You don't need to worry about Audacity's "Tracks", they will sort themselves out. Set Audacity's Preferences to 2 channel, 32 bit, 48000 hz. The 32 bit setting will not improve sound quality, but it will avoid loosing quality through any processing that you may do (such as Amplify, Equaliz...

Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed

It's certainly not unpleasant, but I agree that the cardioid pick-up has more "immediacy", and for solo guitar I also prefer the cardioid response. It's interesting just how much difference there is - if ever you want to record a more "background" type sound, you now know exactly...

Re: Quick Audacity question.

about the microphone, the thing is, i don't have one <_<, which is something i forgot to mention... A fairly "key fact" to miss out :D but that explains why you are recording nothing. Your current set-up is for recording the microphone. This one http://i569.photobucket.com/albums/ss137/Dr...

Re: Recording in stereo

Edit menu > Preferences > Audio I/O > Channels: 1 (mono)
Record.
File > Export as WAV

Play the WAV file - it will come out of both speakers.

Re: processing multiple projects

Audacity Projects are not sound files so there are no other programs that can help you out here. Projects are designed to be a working environment for your audio production. They are not designed for long term storage. The idea is that you do your recording, process, edit and export your finished wo...
