Re: recording
If you set Sibelius to use its internal synthesizer you can export directly as a WAV file. This is the easiest and highest quality way to output audio files from Sibelius. If you have been using a different synth (for example the Microsoft Synth) you may need to tweak the instrument volumes to get t...

Re: volume when recording
The American Audio Genie 2 does not claim to support Windows 7. According to their website: System Requirements: Windows Microsoft Windows 98se/ME/ 2000/ XP Have a look in the Windows Control Panel (under "Sounds"). Windows may be treating the device as a USB microphone and adding 20dB boo...

Re: Removing everything but drums from a track?
The centre-pan removal method (vocal removal in Audacity) can work extremely well, but only if: 1) It is a good, clean stereo recording 2) The vocal is panned dead centre 3) Other important instruments are not panned dead centre 4) There are little or no stereo effects on the voice. Few commercial r...

Re: Selection via keystrokes?
Scripting support for Audacity is rather limited as it is designed primarily as a GUI tool. Have you looked at the "Chains" feature? Again there are some fairy major limitations, but you may find it useful. Have you considered using SOX? http://sox.sourceforge.net/ It is a command line pro...

Re: how can I do these exercises?
Upgrade to Audacity 1.3 - it is much easier to do these things on Audacity 1.3. On Audacity 1.2 it is difficult. Task 1 Using Audacity 1.3.11: Open Audacity Generate menu > Tone Frequency= 220 Hz Amplitude = 0.6 Click "OK" button Tracks menu > Add New > Audio Track Generate menu > Tone Fre...

I wasn't sure what you meant there, but I see you are referring to Koz's comment.roy windmill wrote:How do I re-tune to 16x?
He means changing the CD burn speed. WMP probably does not give you the option.

Re: Odd distortion
Could you post a bigger picture of that second image. There appear to be some odd little spikes but I can't quite make it out. Short (less than 1MB I think) MP3 or WAV files can be uploaded when you are making your post - look for the "upload" tab below the message compose box. A short aud...

Re: buzzing noise in the background
The sound is very badly damaged before it gets to your computer and there is only a limited amount that you can do to salvage it. If you are exporting it from Audacity as MP3, that will add further damage. Export it either as a WAV file, or a very high quality MP3 (try the "Insane" preset)...
