Re: Simple Recording Help
you need two mikes if you want to hear in two ears ;) Completely incorrect. If you record in mono you will get the sound from both speakers/headphones, subject to the "pan position". The most common reason that people get sound out of only one speaker/headphone when recording with one mic...

Re: Stereo separation / stereo tracks with balanced audio
By this I mean things like-- de-essing vocals low pass filter (set to what?) high pass filter (set to what?) being conservative on the stereo separation (I have almost none, hence this thread--and thanks again) submitting decent files with an accurate track listing for reference etc. De-essing - pr...

Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed
Yes the mic has a low-cut switch, I've tried that, I think I even posted a sample of that... IIRC Koz didn't like it much then hehe (here's the link for that sample) Too extreme isn't it. The cut-off frequency (100Hz) is too high and too steep. Most of that recording is markedly bass-light, except ...

Re: Hang when recording with USB headset
If your system uses PulseAudio, it is possible that PulseAudio has hung/crashed. This can easily happen if you change audio devices while the device is in use. If you set up the recording options in Audacity, then restart Audacity before you try to record, that will usually allow the device to be ch...

What are you trying to record? Something that is playing in your web browser? YouTube? Internet radio?
If you click on the "Record Meter" (just above the drop-down menu in your first picture) do you get red bars responding to the sound that you want to record?

Re: Windows7/Audacity
The USB cable must be connected, and the Lenco recognised by Windows before you launch Audacity. Windows has a habit of passing ALL sound services to the USB device, which is why playback stops. To get round that problem, connect the USB turntable, then go into the Windows Control Panel (Start menu ...

Re: Repairing a Big click
The easiest way to deal with big clicks like that is to just cut them out, then use "Repair" to smooth the join. If the repair is less than about 20 milliseconds, and you select the cut points to be at, or around zero crossing points, the repair is likely to be invisible, or very nearly so...
Re: Transcode
Would I be correct to assume that the more red or bright yellow/white there is in the top part of the image the more likely it is to be a transcode No, that is not a safe assumption. There is very little spectral difference between a 128kbps encoded file and a 320kbps encoded file. The difference d...
