If you want to use a VST effect, use Audacity 1.3.12. Audacity does not support all VST effects, but support in the 1.3 version is very much better than in 1.2.6

Re: Need more info for recording and splitting by silence
I'm looking for a way to have Sound Activated Recording stop rather than pause, and automatically start a new track (with sound activated recording on). Either that or make Sound Activated Recording insert a label automatically each time it pauses. Each time the sound activated recording pauses, th...

Re: Trying to sound like a little girl
I think Trebor was just trying to illustrate an idea. The creators of Lich King's voice probably spent months creating it, while Trebor probably spent about 10 minutes. The Lich King's voice also has a lot of synthesized sound mixed in, which have been modulated with the voice, pre-delayed and envel...

Re: Using Audacity to Find Orirgin of Sounds
An interesting and tricky problem. As Koz points out, the reflections in a swimming pool will be a killer. What do we know about the buzzers? Do you know their frequency? Are all the buzzers at (approximately) the same frequency? Are they all sounding at the same time? How accurately do you know the...

I think Koz is correct, but you have just not found the necessary "switch" yet. The symptoms that you describe match exactly with the problem being caused by a sound card setting. Unfortunately the manufacturers are constantly changing the layout of the settings so unless someone has a com...

Re: error while opening sound device?
Native Instruments have designed the software so that you need to use the "Pro" version for recording. The Numark total control USB plug in device is not a USB audio interface (which is what those instructions are for), it's a "control surface". It may be possible to "cheat ...

@ alexftw right-click over the speaker icon in the System Tray > Adjust Audio Properties. Or you can click Start > (Settings) > Control Panel > Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices > Sounds and Audio devices. First, click on the Audio tab, and in the "Sound Recording" panel, select the correct...

Re: copy-paste: Bug Report OSX
I'm unable to reproduce the problem here (on Linux - but no obvious reason why it should be different).
Grey, could you give step-by-step instructions of how to reproduce this problem.

Re: Audacity wont acknowlegde my guitar USB device
Audacity should certainly work recording directly from the USB device. The "problem" is recording from the VST effect - that's the bit that Audacity does not support. If you want to record the "straight" (not passed through the amp simulator) sound, we can probably help you with ...
