Re: Device Input - no mic option
Windows 7 frequently disables and hides the recording inputs making them unavailable (most unhelpful  ) You probably need to go into the Windows Control Panel to enable the input that you want to use. See here for how to do this: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the...

Re: Why isn't the sample rate what it should be???
I'm not sure exactly what you mean - the sample rate should not affect the functioning of the Left/Right track sliders.steve69 wrote:the L/R faders no longer seem to make any difference. Is theis because I've changed the sample rate?
Can you give me a step-by-step example of how I can reproduce this problem?

Re: Using Audacity to Find Orirgin of Sounds
Does the square law thing work underwater? I've never looked into that, but I would guess that it does, but would be subject to the same real-world limitations as for normal (air) microphones. The inverse square law is a very rough approximation to what happens in real life. It does not take into a...

Re: 2nd track flatlining
It seems that your sound card is not providing "full-duplex" (simultaneous bidirectional) data. Virtually all sound cards of the last 10 years have supported full-duplex, so I wonder why yours is failing. What do you have set as the default sample rate? (Edit menu > Preferences > Quality t...

Hi Raistx,
Have a look at the bottom of the "Transport" menu.
Is "Software Plythrough" selected?
If it is, try deselecting it.

Re: No Sound
On Friday, 2/4/2010 I installed Audacity 1.3.11 (Beta) OK, let's stick with that version (there is now 1.3.12, but there's not much difference - Audacity 1.2.6 is very different for the set up so we'll ignore that version). Once we have this working you can update to 1.3.12. I checked everything yo...

Yep, that's basically the idea (also works for iceberg detection) - but doesn't require that the buzzer is big enough to make a noticeable "clang" on impact.kozikowski wrote:You could do that at the pool bottom and know you found it when you bump into it. [clang] "Found it!"

Re: Hum When Using Audacity
When I record directly to my laptop using Audacity I am getting a hum which is directly related to my power cord. If I run off of battery power the hum goes away. Laptop PC power supplies are very often noisy. It's just one of the places that manufacturing costs have been cut. Using an external sou...

Set the Project Rate (lower left corner of the main Audacity window) to 44100 before you export.
Export in WAV format.
Is there any requirement for mono/stereo?
