Re: Continuous beep
Are you using a standard Ubuntu install?
Which version? Ubuntu 9.10?
Is this on a laptop computer?
Does the beep respond to the master volume control in the Panel?
Do you have pavucontrol installed?

Re: Is there an optimal recording volume?
Almost forgot - In Audacity 1.3 you can "grab" the Audacity meter-bar by clicking on the left hand edge of it with the mouse, hold the mouse button down and pull it out of its "docking" position. Click on the right hand edge and you can stretch the meters to the full width of you...

Re: Is there an optimal recording volume?
If I have 2 tracks both recorded with max amplitude reaching the 0.5 mark on the scale (half of max value) and playback them they will produce an added max amplitude of "1.0", i.e. max allowed signal strength, provided I have each individual volume control at "0 db". Correct? Th...

Re: Recording Problems
Buzz or Squeal ? Fantastic :D Buzz. Unfortunately I'm not getting a good feeling about this... can we just run through a few checks: In 'Control Panel', 'Sound Settings', mic selections are right. In Audacity, mic selections are right. Could you say exactly what settings you have in those locations...
Re: need help
There is a new(ish) section in the Audacity documentation that covers many of the issues that are specific to Windows 7: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Windows_7_OS
In particular, look at the section called " Recording and playback "

There is a pretty thorough explanation of what Koz is describing in the Audacity documentation: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/File_Management_Tips
It's not the most fun thing to read on a Sunday evening, but can go a long way toward avoiding tears over future projects. (highly recommended).

It's the automated instructions that would have to be written. But what do I know!? Any Ideas? Have a read of this topic: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=27938 (particularly the first couple of posts). Does that idea sound like it would help with your project? If so, add your...

Re: The audio sounds like crud
How do i use this filter on 1.3 If all goes correctly you won't need it. Give me a couple days to give this a try... No problem - probably best to leave it 'till you have time to concentrate on the job. Shout if you get stuck, and let us know if you get it all working. I'll keep an eye for your rep...
