Re: Multi-channel TASCAM US-1641

if necessary, I'll record in it and edit in Audacity, but thought somebody might have an idea why I'm not allowed multiple channels. That will probably be your best bet. Reaper is able to use ASIO drivers, whereas Audacity can only be distributed with support for the standard Windows drivers (MME o...

Re: Recording problems with mic.

Have a look here for general advice on using Vista: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Windows_Vista_OS and in particular, this section on setting the recording inputs: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Windows_Vista_OS#Using_the_Control_Panel_to_select.2Fenable_recording_devices If you still have pr...

Re: files&folder

well ... actually if you go into the aup folder and edit the location of the data folder it works fine. I presume you mean - edit the .aup file . Doing that can be risky. All but the most simple projects have multiple directory references and you must get every one exactly correct or the project wi...

Re: how to merge two or more tracks into one?

After the selection is done, it would be convenient to have these 5 collapsed into 1 track, to save on vertical space. I can see that being useful - you might like to flesh out that idea on the "Adding Features to Audacity" section of the forum. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewforum.php...

Re: Posting Sound

I think 1 MB is sufficient and it's an easy to remember number. (the 2MB limit that I quoted was from an error message that I got when trying to post something too big - I guess that was from php.ini)

Re: Increase input volume for system sound

I get the general idea of what you are doing, and I think that you are asking more for an understanding of the general principals rather than a single specific task. Am I right? A few points before we go any further: For Windows Vista you should be using the latest 1.3 version of Audacity (currently...

Re: "Error: reference to invalid number at line N" on 1.3.12

File names should be fine with a hyphen ("-"), providing it really was an ordinary hyphen and not some strange character that "looked" like a hyphen with whatever font your computer was displaying. The safest characters are alapha-numeric (a to z and 0 to 9) Generally safe charac...
