Re: Folders, albums and such

I can't be sure about your RCA player, but I can play MP3s on my DVD player, and have them in folders. All I do is is to create my MP3's on the computer, put them in folders, then use CDBurnerXP (a good yet free CD/DVD burning program) to copy the folders onto a data CD. Is there any reason why you ...

Re: Multi-channel TASCAM US-1641

Yes Audacity can be compiled with ASIO support, but for anyone that does not already have experience with such things it is certainly not an easy task. So, it sounds like Audacity could do that for me, Yes, if I understand you plan correctly Audacity can do that. I might want all of track 1 to go to...

Re: any plug-in for distortion by too-high gain

The floorfish results are about the best you're likely to get. I've had a go using a different method, and restricting the effects to those included in Audacity. The method here was to generate a bit of pink noise, and deliberately clip it severely. This could be done by amplifying it with the "...

Re: Audacity with Creative Fatal1ty HS-1000 Gaming Headset?

Ah right - you want to record audio streaming from the internet and that kind of thing. With WinAmp you don't need to record it - WinAmp can write directly to disk - it used to be called the "diskwriter plug-in" - I think it's now built directly into WinAmp. Basically, it just sends the au...

Re: power hum when recording from tape reel machine

If it's a desktop/tower computer you should definitely always use a 3 pin socket. Apart from any "hum" issue, one small fault on the computer power supply could be "BANG" and you thrown out through the window. Appliances that are equiped with 2 pin power leads should be double in...

Re: noise problem

It may just be that you are not loud enough for the microphone - the sound quality should be pretty good, but with low level sounds there will probably be a bit of "ssss" after you have amplified it to get a good volume. How bad is the noise? Could you post a short sample - just a couple o...

This is pretty crucial so if in doubt, ask.

Re: how to merge two or more tracks into one?

Where I find the Mixer Board useful is toward the end of the project. Any unused tracks have been deleted (if I'm not certain that I won't want them again, I'll export them as individual tracks using "Export Selection". All of my "envelope" shaping has been done, and I just want ...

Is the SC400 connected to your computer? How is it connected?
What are you recording? your voice? speaking? singing loudly? shouting?

Re: How to dynamically mod volume of one track to match anot

Forgot to ask - roughly how long is the actual track that you want to process?
Any idea what the spec, or age of your computer is? how much RAM?
