Re: Recording at 24bit appears to be 16 bits padded to 24bit
also the db scale does not match the linear display One is a linear measurement on a scale of +/- 1 The other is a dB measurement on a scale of 0 to -inf. Not surprisingly the numbers don't match up. An amplitude of 0.5 on the linear scale is equivalent to -6dB. I expect that the confusion is just ...

Re: Problems recording.
Assuming that those are the same settings as when you made the latency test recording -
Set the "Latency Correction" to -228 (that's "minus" 228)
Then run the latency test again - hopefully it will be somewhere close.

Re: Problems recording.
Did you include the _data folder? Surprise Koz - AUP and _data folder included, both within the same (zip'd) folder. Is this the first time we've had a working Audacity Project posted? I've tried that and I can't seem to get it right for some reason. Yes, that's a long way out isn't it. What settin...

Re: cannot access files
Whenever I click import audio, I'll click a file ..... Exactly which file are you clicking on? Are you sure it's an MP3 file that you are trying to import? That error message looks more like you are trying to open an Audacity Project. and my files are shared... Where are your files shared? Are they...

The "latency correction" is not set up correctly.bugmenot1 wrote:when I play back the recording, it is no longer in sync with the song. Why would this be?

Re: Recording at 24bit appears to be 16 bits padded to 24bit
Audacity is capable of sound quality exactly as good as other "pro" software. I use Sonar, Adobe Audition, ProTools and Audacity and the sound quality is identical on all three. As explained by Gale Andrews in his post 6 months ago, this is a limitation PortAudio with the Windows sound sys...

Re: Sound Engineering Help
I thought "Magic Sing" only made karaoke mics? I would expect, for the purposes of recording, a proper recording microphone would outperform a karaoke microphone by a very large margin. (there are many proper recording microphones available in the same price range as those karaoke mics). S...

Re: Constant, loud static noise.
Thanks naitzmic.
Well it's not the way that I thought you'd done it, but glad that it has sorted out the problem for you.
For anyone reading this that's interested - the "trial version of a small application" in question is "Virtual Audio Cable".

Re: Problems recording.
Is there anyway I could mute just one track while recording? Yes, you can use the "Mute" button on the left side of the track. Alternatively you can use the "Solo" button which will mute all other tracks except for those with the solo button pressed. However, to get to the botto...
