Re: Zennox USB tape to MP3 converter
Audacity should work, but note that Windows Millennium Edition is not generally considered to be a very stable operating system. Make sure that you get the "Windows 98/ME" version - the standard "Windows 2000/XP/Vista" version will not work. http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_...

Re: How to UnRobotize after Effects > Noise Removal
The Noise removal in Audacity 1.2.6 is generally more prone to "robotizing" than the effect in 1.3.12 In either case, all you can do is to use less Noise Removal (reduce by a lesser amount) so as to reduce the unwanted audio artefacts. There is no satisfactory way to remove the artefacts o...

Re: 1.3.12 Beta language choice in Interface
Thanks Richard. I had "audacity" (1.3.12 beta) installed in the Ubuntu default location of /usr/ and "audacity-SVN" installed in the default config. location of /usr/local/ (different --program-suffix). I've now installed "audacity-SVN" in /usr/ and the language options...

Re: Boys help a girl? Can't find how to convert 88200 to 441
I never knew about the turning it up as loud as possible, that already made a recording test 50% better. To be honest it added another problem. When I turn up the levels enough on the mic to get the LEDs up to the red line I'm way over the input (clippping) on the Microtrack. You shouldn't need to ...

Re: MP3's & WAV's massively clipped in Audacity
As seen in this image, there is the word "aircraft" at the top of the window, but there are no tracks. I imported a file called "aircraft.wav" into Audacity and then deleted it. The name "aircraft" remains at the top of the main window. That is normal - I've just tested...

Re: Distortion when recording from USB turntable
One would expect that a sound card installed as part of the original system would have the correct drivers and be fully functional. Unfortunately this is frequently not so. When Windows 7 was released, many manufacturers were struggling to produce working drivers for their hardware and in many cases...

Re: too high recording volume
you need a DI box (and cable adapters) to fix the mismatch You are absolutely right whomper, that could be a solution, but there still remains the problem that all of the DI boxes mentioned so far only have microphone level outputs on their balanced XLR connectors. The other connectors (jack/RCA) a...

Re: MP3's & WAV's massively clipped in Audacity
I edited audacity.cfg then tried opening and closing previously reliable wav's (From TrackItDown) with Audacity 1.3.12 but again same symptoms - close track waveform by clicking on X but clearly actual track is still there (its name still in top LH corner of screen where it should say 'Audacity'. C...

Re: How can one person sound as a complete choir?
I need to add some kind of chorus to my voice it sound like a group of football supporters. I dont know anything about audio editing (just change volume, cut, paste and some really basic things). Any tips for a noob like me? Bribe all of your friends and acquaintances to come round and record them se...
