Re: Clap Hands for Cleaner Sound
This effect/process is sometimes refered to as "deconvolution" or "deverberation". It is certainly not an easy thing to achieve, though the open source project " Postfish " has attempted an implementation. For Postfish release notes: http://svn.xiph.org/trunk/postfish/R...

Re: Selective sound supression
Audacity has some features that may help, though it depends on what sort of sounds you are wanting to remove, and from what you are removing them. For example if you are wanting to remove a high pitched sound from a recording you may be able to do that with simple frequency filters, though they may ...

Re: How to make rockfall sound impact?
Its largely a matter of personal preference. You could have a look on freesound.org and see what they have. Here's an effect that I made from a "Pink Noise" sample. Using Audacity 1.3.12 - Generate menu > Noise > Pink Filtered the noise with a high-pass filter set at 50Hz and a low-pass fi...

Re: recording setup
The hardest part of solving hum problems is determining exactly where the hum is coming from. It is invariably due to grounding (Earthing) problems and is most common with low level signals. There should usually be an Earth/ground connector on the turntable that can be connected to an Earth/ground p...

Re: Help With Joining Two Tracks
I am trying to add these tracks as background music to a recording I made with audacity, but I cant get the 4 cd tracks to join together without popping. The most simple method is to use the "Fade in/out" effects so that each piece has a short fade-in at the beginning and a short fade-out...

Re: starting Audacity 1.3 beta
Try running the installer as an Administrator - if it still does not work, try setting "Compatibility Mode" to Windows XP.

Re: "Voice Logo" question
For most users, the current 1.3 version (Audacity 1.3.12) is the best version to use (though the old 1.2.6 version is still available). The links on the Audacity web site for downloading Audacity 1.3.x are now direct links to the Audacity installation files so there is no longer a problem with accid...

Re: Reel to Reel to Mac
Is it possible to get mono on both channels? The way to do it is to record in mono. Go to "Edit menu > Preferences > Audio I/O" and set the number of recording channels to "1 (mono)". The mono recording will be in through both speakers/headphones when you play it. is there a way...

Re: starting Audacity 1.3 beta
I've moved this topic to the Audacity 1.3 part of the forum.
Are you installing Audacity as an Administrator?
Which version of Windows are you using?
You may need to update/repair Microsoft Visual C++ on your machine, but what to do next will depend on what your computer is running.

Re: Is Audicity good for teaching singing via email?
Audacity is a good recording application for Windows, Mac and Linux. Exported MP3 files may be sent from one platform to another and will work on all three platforms. Note that Audacity is not compatible with Skype - Skype needs to configure the computer sound system a certain way and this often int...
