Re: Using external program export function

Sorry I've no idea why your script fails, but perhaps if you could explain in more detail what you are wanting to do there may be some alternative methods to achieve the same result. Why do you want to export Audacity sound data to a text file? Are you trying to produce a list of sample values?

Move Plug-ins and Modules folders

On Linux the Plug-ins and Modules folders are by default only accessible with root access. In my opinion it would be more convenient if they were in the home folder, possibly as a default in "~/.audacity-data" It is a PITA to have to change the permissions and reinstall plug-ins after ever...

Re: Need instruction for doing church sermon recordings

Just a couple of points to start with: It is not a good idea to post your e-mail address anywhere on the internet unless you want to be on every spammers mailing list forever. I highly recommend removing your e-mail address from your previous post. For Windows 7 you need to use Audacity 1.3 (current...

Re: Preserving Sound Envelope

It depends on how much of a geek you are. :D If you are a real geek, it's possible to transfer an envelope from one project to another by opening the .AUP file in a text editor and manually editing it. If you're not a geek, or only semi-geek, then you could look at using the "Auto Duck" ef...

Re: Fixing Bad Mono Mix

A friend suggested I try this: It's amazing what becomes possible if you throw enough money at it, but sit down before you look at the price tag. :D I sometimes make "quick and dirty recordings" at rehearsals - generally have the problem of the kit drums drowning out everything else as we...

Re: Can only record from microphone...

I don't know a lot about Mint, but I gather it is 'buntu based and I use Ubuntu. In Ubuntu, the sound system is controlled by PulseAudio, so what you do is to leave Audacity set to; Host: Alsa Device(s): default then, if you have more than one sound card you use "Pulse Volume Control" to s...

Re: Recording from multiple USB mics

In any case, I'm still hoping someone can answer my original question. Which was along the lines of "how can I record from multiple USB microphones at the same time with Audacity?" Unfortunately you can't. The underlying problem for Audacity is that it can only access one recording device...

How is this done?
Just use Tracks > Add New > Stereo Track

But you shouldn't need to do that. If it's all set up correctly you should only need to press record.

Re: Audacity dj mix recording mono problem

If it's a lead problem there's nothing that we can do across the forum - you will need to check that out yourself. Depending on what leads you have you may be able to swap them around to check that they all work.
