Re: Voice change project -caution *Epic noob*
You can't do it with Audacity. You need a music program that works with audio, VST plugins and MIDI. (Audacity does not support playing MIDI). There's a tutorial here (more accurate than most of the tutorials on this subject) using FL Studio (the process will be very similar in other VST/Midi progra...

Re: Help applying the sin function
The sin function requires the number to be a float, not an integer.
Try (setf l (sin 5.0))

Re: Error message when pressing record.
Are you being ironic Koz?
OK, so the Linux sound system may not be quite as messed up as Vista, and is awesome when it's set up and working properly, but it's often one of the biggest headaches and least fuzzy warm aspects of a Linux box.

Re: Gain
It sounds like the problem is that for one reason or another your computer or sound card can't handle the data rate at 24/96. Is there any particular reason why you want files at 96kHz? If you can upload a 24/96 sample somewhere and post a link I can check out the file for you and see if it plays OK...

Re: Disappearing .aup files!
A couple of tips to help avoid confusion: On the forum we use the term "Save" for saving Audacity Projects, and the term "Export" for exporting audio files (you've probably realised by now that an Audacity Project is not an audio file. The .AUP file is part of the Audacity Projec...

Re: Make Audacity only record when it hears a asound?
Putting a few metronome ticks before the music starts can help you to line the tracks up and can be trimmed off later. Unfortunately it is unlikely that the tracks will stay exactly in time due to small variations in recording speed, though if the tracks are not too long it may be close enough. Ther...

Re: need help with a mixing situation. please help. URGENT
If the Audacity Project has not been closed you can use Ctrl+Z (or "Undo" from the Edit menu). If that's not possible, it's very much easier to fix if you're using Audacity 1.3 than on Audacity 1.2 This post should give you some ideas of how you might fix it using Audacity 1.3.12 http://fo...

Re: Audio output converted to time & signal?
Thanks BG - I was on my Windows partition to check something out for another user, typed the message, then realised the plug-in was on my Linux partition, and of course Windows can't read Linux partitions. "No problem" I thought - "I'll just post the message, switch back to Linux and ...

Re: Error message when pressing record.
Do not open Audacity yet. Windows START > Control Panel (Classic View) > SOUND > Recording tab. Right Click on window and select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices". You should see "Microphone USB" listed. Right click on "Microphone USB" a...

Re: Audio output converted to time & signal?
jakepeters, Here's a plug-in I made some time ago that may be what you are looking for. Extract the zip file and put the "sampleprinter.ny" file into your Audacity Plug-ins folder. I think it's fairly obvious how to use it, but if it's not, just ask. The plug-in prints a list of sample val...
