Re: Trimming sound files (several questions)

It would be easy to write a Nyquist plug-in that will trim off a bit from the end of each track, but Nyquist plug-ins can not be used in Chains, so it would still be only semi-automatic. The working method would be: 1) Import track 2) Apply "Trim" effect 3) Export After that it would be: 1...

Re: Zero-Point editing and weird clicking sound

You are likely to get a click in Audacity if the screen has to scroll before the loop restarts. Zoom out so that you can see the whole of the looped area before using SHFT+Play.

Re: notch filter?

Re: Help me with making a FM-AM RADIO talk simulation sound

I don't know exactly what sort of "radio voice" you are aiming for, but here in the UK radio presenters tend to not use echo, reverb or chorus effect. The only effects that are really used are "dynamic compression" and a bit of "Equalization". For dynamic compression, o...

Re: Medium Wave radio recordings

Prior to 1989 the audio frequency range was limited to 15kHz ("kHz" became the official SI unit, replacing ye olde "kcps", about 50 years ago). In 1989 the FCC adopted the NRSC standard limiting the audio band to 10.2 kHz. The brightness and "sparkle" that you hear in h...

Do you have "Show Clipping" selected in the "View" menu?

Re: Distortion when recording from USB turntable

Oddly enough, if I choose Listen To This Device in the USB Audio Codec input properties, the record plays directly and the sound is fine. I see there is a note to that effect on this page: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the_Control_Panel 5. Right-click once again over ...

Re: Gain

Yes there is clipping, and the 24/96 export has "wrapped" the over 0dB samples rather than clipping them. Digital audio is represented by a series of binary numbers - If you count up to the highest possible number for the number of "bits" (24 bits in this case) and then add one m...

Re: BUG: Records at slightly different position every time

There will always be some amount of variation, but 12 ms seems rather high (though it will still be barely noticeable). Just tested on my (cheap) laptop with on-board Intel sound - the variation here is within 4 ms. Setting CPU priority to Background Services rather than Programs may help. (this is ...
