Re: Updated Chris's Dynamic Compressor
I think you mean by harder then that the compression ratio is higher No, the "Compress Ratio" slider does that. The "Hardness" slider is a combined control for the attack width, attack exponent, release width and release exponent. The reason that Chris has combined them into one...

What are you trying to record and with what? Your voice with the microphone built into your laptop? A guitar with an external microphone plugged into an M-Audio 123 USB sound card? A YouTube video playing in Firefox? ......

Re: Exporting to variable bit rate
is Audacity a appropriate program to convert between mp3 and FLAC? You can use Audacity to convert between MP3 and Flac, but 1) it's probably not the best program for it, and 2) Converting from MP3 to Flac is probably a waste of time. Re: Mono Track To Stereo
what happens if you drop a mono narration track into a full stereo musical show? You mean if you wanted to drop the mono narration track into the same track as the stereo show? Then yes, you would need to convert the narration track to stereo - but why would you want to put the narration into the s...

Re: Updated Chris's Dynamic Compressor
Sorry about that. I was *not* replying to you. No problem. I went by his message. Where it says the sound is now "harder". There was an earlier discussion on the forum about the previous version of Chris's Dynamic Compressor in which Chris pointed out that more aggressive ( harder compres...

That Voice in the back of my head is screaming that's important...but I can't think how. I don't hear (or see) anything that I would describe as "that particular frequency" . The only noise I notice is "that hiss" . Which makes me wonder if you (Jim) are hearing noise from your ...

Re: Exporting to variable bit rate
I didn't want this to be a boxing match between the 2 programs, but it has turned into an interesting comparison. I'm glad we're looking at this the same way. I'm looking for the next best lossless format so I may well change For lossless, then it's as Koz says, FLAC (though there are other options...
