Re: Nyquist Plugin: Hammerhead Mod Plugin

I've not had chance to look at your plug-in yet, though it sounds interesting (I used Hammerhead some years ago but didn't get as far as editing the sounds). It's not totally obvious, but the convention in Audacity for plug-ins that produce labels is to make them "Analyze" plug-ins. Genera...

That's interesting. Could you give a more detailed description of how you do that?

Re: Square Roots and If-Thens

Hi - we now have a brand new board specially for Nyquist, so I've moved your post to it. "sqrt" only works with number, not with sounds. For the square root of a sound (positive values) you can either use: (s-sqrt s) or (s-exp (mult (s-log s) 0.5)) See here for s-log http://www.audacity-fo...

Re: Minimum length mod for Silence Marker and Sound Finder

I can easily see a case where we have a LP/tape transfer, silence at the start then nine (more or less) three-minute tracks each separated by a couple of seconds' silence. User wants to e-mail them as MP3s but there is a limit of 3 MB per e-mail. Or, this is a compilation album and every three trac...

Re: Recording freezes when screensaver is activated

But when trying to stop recording on Ubuntu in 1.3.13 Alpha (irrespective of screensavers), if I press Stop and hold it for a few seconds (as if I was waiting for the exact place to stop), I get a completely replicable freeze and have to force quit. No problem here using Audacity ® 1.3.13-alpha-May...

Re: export help

You've not said which version of Windows you are using, but I suspect it is because you did not install it as an Administrator.

If you still have no joy, just make a Desktop shortcut to the "audacity.exe" file that is in the Audacity folder in the "Program Files" folder.

It's not actually that rare - probably not far off 50/50, but what IS rare is a PC laptop with a decent quality audio input of any kind - that's as rare as rocking-horse muck.

Re: Recording freezes when screensaver is activated

I would call it a bug, but it's not really an Audacity bug. The problem is that often the sound system can try to shut down when the screen saver starts. You may be able to work round the issue by setting your screen to just go off rather than a screen saver, though of course you must make sure that...

Re: meters don't show clipping

I've asked one of the Mac experts to have a look at this post in case it's a Mac specific issue. In the mean time, you can get a pretty good idea of your recording level (even without the clip meters) if you make the meters bigger. If you click on the end of the meter you can drag it to a different ...

Re: New Vinyl Getting Skips

Sounds to me that the problem is with the record. My advice would be to not play it on your turntable. It's possible that it is a bad pressing, in which case you should get it exchanged. Check again under really good light to see if there are any visible signs of the disk being warped or other damag...
