Re: Cracks after exporting to mp3

That looks like you have recorded far too loud and it has distorted.
Distortion often sounds worse after you export from Audacity because of the way that normal audio files clip the waveform. The recorded waveform should not exceed the top/bottom of the Audacity track.

Re: Increase input volume for system sound

You're not expected to know but it helps the discussion if we use the same terminology. We use the term "import" to mean copying a computer file into Audacity. It sounds to me that what you are doing is "recording" with Audacity - in effect, you are recording onto your computer t...

Re: used to record, now won't

See the section here about using the Control Panel to select the input source: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the_Control_Panel You may also find that you can set the input source (and recording/playback levels) from a sound card mixer application in the Taskbar of your...

Re: Increase input volume for system sound

I've split your post off from the previous topic - It is generally best to start a new quiestion in a new topic as it's much easier to see and answer a fresh topic than to find something buried on the bottom of the third page of an old topic. I'm not quite sure what you are doing. You've recorded so...
