Why do you prefer it? What advantage does it have?

Why would you want to float the audio tracks?

I'm considering adding support for parentheses to be used in the intermediate control point list, so that control points can be added in the form:
(time , amplification)
for example:
(1,0)(2,-6)(-2,-6)(-1,0)

Try resetting the keyboard bindings.
"Edit menu > Preferences > Keyboard"
