Re: Extract beats/shakers from songs
There is a VST plug-in (I think it is available for Windows only) called ExtraBoy that claims to be able to do this sort of thing http://www.elevayta.net/product13.htm ExtraBoy is a commercial product, but if you have a Windows machine available to use there is a 14 day demo available that you could...

Re: Excessive Static with the Use of USB PhonoPlus V.2
I quite agree about not being obsessive about numbers, but my passion (and some might say obsession
) is with sound, music and what I hear. If you are not able to hear a -50 dBfs broadband hiss through a little bit of vinyl crackle, then it doesn't matter and we can agree to differ.

Re: How to move/drag more than one track at the same time?
I'm not sure if you wanted to move all but the latest recorded track to right? I was assuming that the new track had not yet been recorded, but yes, tracks can be selected/deselected at will using the up/down arrows and Enter key, or Shift+click on the track info box (taking care not to accidentall...

Re: Poor audio quality after transfer
does this touch test tell me whether I've got stereo sound or just that both channels are working? The touch test establishes that you are in fact recording through the cable and not via some other route such as a microphone built into the computer. It also establishes that both channels are workin...

Re: Crazy Feedback??
I am using the beta for windows 7 You posted in the Audacity 1.2 part of the forum - no problem, I'll move it. In Audacity 1.3.12 there is a much quicker way of switching off software playthrough - click on the "Transport" menu and it is listed at the bottom of the menu. (Software Playthr...

Re: How to move/drag more than one track at the same time?
Upgrade Audacity to version 1.3.12 then it's just: Ctrl+A (select All) F5 key (Time Shift tool, or click on the button with the double headed arrow) Click on any of the tracks and drag. (F1 key to go back to the normal selection tool) Audacity 1.3.12 has many other improvements over the old 1.2.6 ve...

Re: Excessive Static with the Use of USB PhonoPlus V.2
Yes, the PhonoPlus V.2 does have a switch on the front panel, labeled as "Line In" and "Phono". It is set to "Phono" I think that's actually a different switch to what waxcylinder was asking about. Some phono pre-amps have an additional switch which the PhonoPlus v.2 d...

Re: Nyquist Silence Generator effect
Thanks Gale. I think it also serves as a simple demonstration of how the output of an effect (process) plug-in need not be tied to the length of the selection. The code for this plug-in is essentially just one line: (stretch-abs gap (force-srate *sound-srate* (s-rest 1))) where "gap" is th...
