Re: Why does it seem to take forever for Audacity to open?
no offense on any of my "bloated" or "stable" comments No offence taken, I completely understand how frustrating it can be when it doesn't work right :) as soon as I disabled "Audio Units" as well, bingo...2 seconds and open for business. When I saw that disabling VST ...

Re: Exporting to WMA
I still can't find the file listed in WMA What do you mean? Do you mean it's not listed in Windows Media Player (WMP)? For files to be listed in WMP you must open or import them into WMP, or get WMP to rescan your computer, or place the file in a folder that is being watched (monitored for changes)...

Re: Why does it seem to take forever for Audacity to open?
Let me get this straight...a "stable" release isn't "stable", but a "beta" release is supposed to be more "stable" with recent Macs? That's a mind twister... The 1.2.6 version is/was very stable on the machines that it was written for, but that was several ye...

Re: Input Volume Drops after 15-40 seconds
I expect there will be a setting hidden away somewhere, but I don't have a Logitech USB Mic so I can't tell you exactly where it will be.
I think Koz may have used one these, so I'll drop him a line and ask if he can advise.

Re: Amplify vs Normalize parameters
Chris's dynamic compressor was written because Chris had exactly the same problem listening to classical music in his car, so he created "Chris's dynamic compressor" and did an excellent job. In my opinion it is by far the best compressor available for this particular purpose. I find some ...

Re: Input Volume Drops after 15-40 seconds
You need to find your microphone settings (there may be a loudspeaker icon near the Time/Date on your Desktop, or you may need to go into the Windows Control Panel). There will be a setting for "Noise Reduction" or "Echo Cancellation" (or called something similar). You need to tu...

Re: Panning Help?
Question: what happens if you export a single mono track like this to a WAV file? Does it produce a stereo pair with the same on both tracks. If ALL tracks being exported are mono, then the exported file will be one channel mono. Underlying question: will such a WAV play properly on MP3 players and...

Since WC is not on-line at the moment but we are... Having done hundreds of vinyl transfers, waxcylinder has his set-up precisely tuned for producing high quality recordings from vinyl. He knows that the recording that he gets will be very close to the original sound of the record and that the left/...

Re: Panning Help?
1) Split the Stereo track (in 1.3 you can "split stereo to mono") 2) selete the unwanted one 3) use Tracks > Add New > Audio Track 4) Copy the first track into your paste buffer - select it and use CTRL+C 5) select the empty second track and past the audio in 6) Join the two mono channels...
