Re: Can't control Input Volume

I can't find the Digitech Audio JW-51SWG - in fact I can't find Digitech Audio :?
Does the device have a volume control that affects the volume level that is sent to the computer?

Re: Is it possible to remove distortion?

Short answer - No. Longer answer - you may be able to make some amount of improvement, though the results are generally mediocre at best. If there is a tiny bit of "clipping" (where the top/bottom of the waveform has been cut off due to hitting 0 dB) then you can use the "Clip Fix&quo...

Re: Changing end/beginning points of a clip

I think what musicnprogress is asking about is adjusting the length of the audio itself. In the multi-track view in Adobe Audition you can do this (and in many video editors) because the editing is non-destructive - when you trim the end off a track, the end of the track has not really been trimmed ...

Re: Text Envelope 0.8 beta

Where the help says decimals must use a dot as a separator, how does this work in locales that use , (comma) as separator? I think Nyquist normally interprets commas as decimal separators there? I've had a definitive reply from Edgar regarding this and it is as I suspected. Nyquist (like nearly all...

Re: Audacity icon association

Is there any particular reason why you are using such an old version of Ubuntu and such an old version of Audacity?

Re: am trying beta; only recording in mono

You need to go into the Windows Control Panel and set the USB recording device to stereo.
There's some general information about settings in the Control Panel here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer ... _Issues#cp

Re: Converting to MP3

Is the waveform still visible in Audacity?
What happens if you apply the Amplify effect to the track?
Do other projects play correctly?

Re: Changing end/beginning points of a clip

You can do that in Audacity but only in the later Beta 1.3.x releases I think that either one of us is misunderstanding musicnprogress, or you have discovered a feature that I've missed. How exactly do you do that? Audacity 1.3.12 does contain an option in Preferences to "Enable Cut Lines"...

Re: VST PROBLEMS

It sounds as if it might be a problem with that plug-in effect.
Have you tried the "Hard Limiter" that is included in the LADSPA plug-in pack? (available here: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows )
