Re: Export with period in filename flags warning
since it does not behave like other Windows apps. There are a few things that Audacity does not do quite the same way as other Windows apps - for example, look in the "Help" menu and you'll see that "About Audacity" is not in the usual place :? I'm not a programmer so I don't kn...

Uninstall Audacity 1.2
then re-install Audacity 1.3.12 as an administrator. (use the Windows .exe installer version for Windows 7 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows )

Re: Export problems! Need help fast
Try exporting as a WAV file.
Ensure that you have write permission to the destination.
Check that the file name that you are using is made of standard alpha-numeric characters.
I expect that the Mac people will be along shortly to say that you would be better to use Audacity 1.3.12

Re: After Pause why does Stop move the cursor?
As mentioned before, GUI clutter can be reduced by various methods e.g. custom toolbars, You may like to add your vote here: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=34009 Also I'm afraid didn't understand the "drag out a selection in the waveform" process When you initially...

Re: After Pause why does Stop move the cursor?
I'm *not* looking for a "quick" process. I need one that I can easily rediscover after a period away from the app, understood. And I don't see any other way than for this to be a simple selectable function in the GUI. The simple GUI method is the way that you described in your very first ...

Have a go at recording with Microsoft Sound Recorder http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/9995-sound-recorder-open-use.html This will determine whether the problem is with Audacity or elsewhere in the system. If you can get a recording with Sound Recorder then we will hopefully be able to get you up...

Re: Can't control Input Volume
Thanks whomper, but doesn't really help without any technical information (or preferably a manual). The best I've found is a photo - but that's not much help either.

Re: Could anyone figure out this audio format for us?
Where did the .bin files come from? Have they been "extracted" from a video format? ".BIN" is not a usual extension for audio files - not even for headerless raw audio data - if they are from a video format it may be possible to determine the correct format from the original fil...

Re: How Do I Reduce the File Size of an Edited & Saved WMA F
When you select WMA as the file format, click on the "Options" button and select a lower bit rate. The lower the bit rate, the worse the sound quality, but the smaller the file.
