Re: mono or stereo
In many cases no. Full size PCs invariably have mono microphone inputs. Some laptops may be able to accommodate a stereo microphone, but laptop PCs are renowned for 1) giving no information about the audio input, and 2) having a very poor quality microphone input. I don't know of any current PC mode...

it should be obvious why so many people need it As I said, I'm happy to change my view if anyone can illustrate why it is necessary, though there have been as yet no compelling arguments put forward. It is not at all obvious to me why so many people need it - perhaps you could elucidate. ... i have...

Re: Submit your EQ Curves
Nice work Irish. Could you post the address of the site that you got these from - if they are used it might be best to credit them. A couple of points about the XML file; * To work with the new Curve Manager, the list of curves needs to have <equalizationeffect> at the top and </equalizationeffect> ...

Re: Problems recording
i purchased a uca-202 interface , it resolved most of the issues.. Great :D There is a tutorial here ( Splitting recordings into separate tracks ) that covers the relevant procedures - the relevant part is where it talks about setting labels to mark the start of songs. The examples shown are using ...

There is an article here that may help - it is about setting up USB turntables, but this part applies equally to USB cassette decks: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/USB_t ... ud_or_soft

Re: No sound from project files - intermittently
When you edit, it's best to tell audacity to pull all sound into itself for editing rather than leave sound in a collection of external files. That's a preference. "Copy all sound...(Safer)." In Audacity 1.3.12 there is an option in the File menu "Check Dependencies". This will ...
