Re: Recording troubles

You mean that you want to play along with a song that you have imported and record what you are playing (while the song is playing), but when you record, the imported track does not play?

Which version of Audacity are you using?

Re: Cannot locate files exported as mp3 or audacity to mydoc

That could be at least part of the problem. For Vista you should use Audacity 1.3.12
You can get it here: http://audacityteam.org/download/

Re: seperating tracks from lps

Hi lenny,
There are a number of different types of "distortion", but yes, "clipping" is a form of distortion.
Pleased to hear that you're getting to grips with all this recording stuff - you must be having fun :D

Re: hearing-impared friend

That's the standard Audacity compression effect, not Chris's.
You will find Chris's effect lower in the list (below the "line") - it's listed as "compress dynamics".

Re: Can I watch the wav and apply EQ in real time?

Topic moved. You may also find it useful to increase the "Preview" length. Edit menu > Preferences > Playback Try setting the preview length to 15 seconds. For long tracks, test the Eq settings on a few short sections of the recording before applying to the entire track (Ctrl+Z = Undo)

Re: seperating tracks from lps

i still have to find the high points and adjust it accordinately That is the best way to do it. The really important thing is to avoid distortion because it sounds bad and is virtually impossible to fully repair it if it's distorted. If the recording level goes into the red at all it will cause som...

Re: OpenSuse 11.1 and Audacity.

You could perhaps try installing Lame 3.98.2 (that's the version I'm using on Ubuntu and it works - it is also the version that is used for Windows and Macs). I presume that you are able to locate the "libmp3lame.so" file, but Audacity is not recognising it? If you particularly want to use...

Re: Cannot locate files exported as mp3 or audacity to mydoc

This is not a " Forum Issue " If you say what operating system you are using and which version of Audacity we can move it to the correct part of the forum. In Audacity 1.3.x in certain circumstances if you try to overwrite existing files, duplicates are created. What exactly are you doing?...
