Re: sound cancellation
Will those recordings be able to do a noise subtraction so that the background can be removed? I very much doubt it. You're going to have lots of fun/problems with this. Unless you are talking about some exotic giant swarm of mosquitoes armed with vuvuzelas I would guess that the absolute sound lev...

Re: Problems recording a second track (multi-tracking)
One of the most common sound chips used for on-board sound is the Realtek device. If your computer uses the realtek chip, this may help: There are many variations of the user interface, but this looks fairly typical: http://sites.google.com/site/danlasvegas/realtekhd (see toward the bottom of the pa...

Re: HowTo wav mono, 8000Hz sample rate, 64 kbs with Audacity
You are using Audacity 1.2.6? I export wav file as uncompressed 8 bit PCM (wav), mono, 64 kbps bitrate and opening it back by Audacity as 16 bit, 11025 Hz, mono Audacity is designed for high quality audio production and does not "internally" support bit depths below 16 bit. If you import a...

Re: sound cancellation
The most simple form of sound cancellation is to exactly align the two sounds and invert one of them. Here's a practical demonstration using Audacity 1.3.12: 1) Open Audacity 2) Generate > Tone (default settings) > OK 3) Press Ctrl+D (duplicates the track) 4) double click on one of the tracks so tha...

Re: Problem with audacity in recording the output of M Audio
The problem is that audacity is only recording my Voice and is not able to take the song that is being played in M Audio. What do you mean " the song that is being played in M Audio "? The M-Audio is a microphone isn't it? :? If you mean that the song is playing in "Pro Tools® M-Powe...

Re: no audio on media player
There's a few possibilities - here's some questions that will hopefully narrow it down: Are you recording from a USB device? Which (exact) version of Audacity are you using? (look in Audacity "Help > About Audacity") Do other files play correctly on media player? Do you know (exactly) what...

Re: sound cancellation
I doubt that this is possible. Usually for sound cancellation to work both audio tracks must be recorded at exactly the same time from (almost) exactly the same point. Perhaps you could say a bit more about what/where/how the two audio tracks were recorded.

Re: Setting M-Audio Mobile Pre as audio input
There is a saying "If at first you don't succeed, RTFM" ;) All I did was to listen to the question, then suggest a safe starting point and indicate to the user the appropriate part of the documentation. It can be useful to other users when, as in this case, there is a resolution to a probl...

Re: HowTo wav mono, 8000Hz sample rate, 64 kbs with Audacity
WAV format specifies the sample rate (Hz), bit depth (usually 8, 16, 24 or 32 bit) and the number of channels (usually "1 channel mono" or "2 channel stereo"). "64 kbps" is a measure of "data rate" and is usually quoted with reference to compressed audio forma...

Re: Can't Import Tracks Right
You are trying to import a file that is in a format that is unsupported by Audacity. There are two options that you can try: 1) Rip the CD as a WAV file (WAV format files are supported by all versions of Audacity). 2) Upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12 and also install FFMpeg. http://manual.audacityteam.org...
