Re: Background hummng

I just thought it might be some setting I had failed to notice. Perhaps it is, but you have not yet given us much information to work with. Audacity produces very high quality recordings, so if there is hum on the recording then it must be coming from somewhere. What we need to do is to isolate whe...

Re: Lost my saved files and do not know how to retrieve them

only if you *have* the flash drive Or if the project was originally on a hard drive, or if Waleed means that he has lost the data from his flash drive rather than loosing the drive itself. I doubt that someone would write in to the forum expecting help in finding an item that they had physically lo...

Re: Help to fix an audio file?

That recording is so badly damaged that there is not a great deal that can be done. However, using Audacity 1.3.12, try this: Open the file and select from the Effect menu "Nyquist Prompt". In the Nyquist Prompt text box, copy and paste the following code, then press the OK button. (scale ...

Re: Capturing sound using HeadSET - Skype headset

nobody records anything using speakers NOT the microphone Read the posts again - Videz wants to record from Stereo Mix. ie. the sound coming out of his speakers. @ Videz Make sure that Skype is not running - not even in the background. Skype takes over the recording settings of the computer and pre...

Re: Lost my saved files and do not know how to retrieve them

I am wondering if there is a way that allows me to retrieve or restore those files. Retrieve or restore them from where? Did you create the projects on your computer hard drive, then delete the projects after copying them to your flash drive? If so, have a look in the Recycle Bin and see if they ar...

Re: Cut MB from 36 to under 25 to enable email

Koz has already answered most of your questions, but for a choice of explanations (take your pick, they both mean the same thing): 1: the possible negative effects of using "stereo to mono" when the source mp3 is 2 channel mono (IE; a 2 channel mp3 of a pre-stereo era recording). From your...

Re: Cut MB from 36 to under 25 to enable email

So, my confusion continues. Neither the bit rate nor the file size "remains the same irrespective of the number of audio channels" (104 versus 209 bit rates and 2,166,806 versus 4.333,847 file sizes) when comparing mono exports to stereo exports. What am I missing here? VBR vs CBR vs ABR....

Re: HoTo keep last Export Selection remembered ?

So to set up another default for directory as export location Just select the required directory once and Audacity should remember it and use the same folder next time. how to disable EDIT Metadata edit form as I don't edit metadata at all. There is a check-box in: Edit menu > Preferences > Import/...

Re: no audio on media player

I tried it and it is the same...but now I cant get Windows Media Player to have audio at all. I tried to play a cd and it is the same..no audio. I thought that might be the case, but was confused by your previous post. The problem is that Windows will usually set both recording and playback to the ...
