Re: Batch processing files
I agree that "Chris's dynamic compressor" would probably be the best tool for the job, but unfortunately it can not be used with chains. However the normal "Compressor" effect in Audacity can be be used with chains. There is some information about the compressor effect in the man...

Re: Strange behavior when attempting to move/synch aud files
Moving Audacity projects is possible, but it can be problematic (particularly with Audacity 1.2) and is not generally recommended. The issue of part of the track not playing, and then going "flat line" after processing is because some of the required audio data is missing. Depending on how...

Re: Question about effects
I think we may need to go back a few steps to unravel this. Which version of Audacity are you using? (Look in the Audacity "Help menu > About Audacity") Which version of Windows are you using? Is the audio something that you have recorded in Audacity, or is it an audio file that you just w...

It's not an Easter egg, it's a feature that is documented in the manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph ... er_Toolbarwhomper wrote:are all the easter eggs documented anywhere ?

Re: New Toshiba - won't record except thru mic
<<<Using additional software or a loopback connector are also options on Windows 7.>>> Unless you're on a laptop then it's a good deal more of a problem. Not really. The software option (Total Recorder / Virtual Audio Cable / ...) is just the same. For the hardware option (loopback connector) there...

Re: how to record mic and computer playback simultaneously
Also probably worth noting that this does not provide a way to record both sides of a Skype (or other voip) conversation.
Skype automatically changes the recording input back to microphone only and if you manage to prevent Skype from doing so Skype does not work.

Could you also tel us exactly which version of Audacity you are using. (Look in the Audacity Help menu > About Audacity). If it is an up to date version, there will be a setting at the bottom of the "Transport" menu called "Software Playthrough (on/off)". Make sure that is off (n...

Re: How can I record music
Can I record music from my music on my computer or do I have to record from a cd player attached to my computer. If all you are wanting to do is copy CDs to your computer, you would be better the "rip" the CDs rather than record them. "Ripping" a CD is the process of digitally e...

Re: Multi, multi channel
Correct me, but haven't some of them appeared in postings from people not able to make them work? Absolutely, just like people have come to the forum not being able to get their Realtek HD/UCA 202/Mobile Pre/Fastrack Pro/SB Live/.... to work (all of which we know do work). If that was a good reason...
