Re: 1.2.6 noise removal superior to 1.3.6 ??
I find the Audacity 1.3.12ß Noise Removal works MUCH BETTER than before ... in fact very well indeed ... Then you have a treat in store for you. The Noise Removal effect has just been updated in the source code (I'm not sure if the updated code is available yet in the 1.3.13 alpha version, but if n...

Re: FUZZ BuStEr PLUG-IN
Well, I hate to argue with you, but OBVIOUSLY if you set a cutoff frequency, the MOST desired result would be to have NOTHING below that muted. Strangely enough, this question came up just a few days ago elsewhere on the forum. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=35473&p=9405...

Re: Start/stop recording based on external switch?
To get a time-stamped recording for each call you would need to export the recording after each call. (File menu > Export) then delete the Audacity track to be ready for the next call. If you just leave it running, you will get one long track and when you export it the entire track will have one tim...

Re: Audacity and Media Player on Windows 7 notebooks
Should we be worried by the extra noise from the iMic (with no input signal) when the recorder slider is pushed from 0 to 100 as shown in the bottom panel? Unfortunately yes, we should be worried. I think the problem is all about where the manufacturers cut corners. As WC has just said, I use a Beh...

Re: Help with Microphone to Speakers setup
Also about the knock-offs I would suggest a bit of caution about "knock-offs" (I presume that you mean "copies" :) ) Not all imitation microphones are the same, some are pretty good but others are really bad and a waste of money. It could be worth going with a copy if you have a...

Re: FUZZ BuStEr PLUG-IN
Sorry mate, I was only trying to be helpful. BTW, in the "instructions" (INSTRUCTIONS -- OPERATING THE FUZZ BUSTER PLUG-IN.txt) you state: Due to inaccuracies in Nyquist filter code, frequencies below entered values MAY be filtered as well (but less so than frequencies above the value). We...

Re: Start/stop recording based on external switch?
The "Sound Activated Recording" feature in Audacity 1.3.12 may provide what you need http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Recording_Preferences On Windows, all files are automatically "timed stamped" when they are created. When you export your recording, the audio file ...

Re: Which version should I use?
A good place to start is to try one of the Tutorials (link at top of page). There's a lot of good information in the "Tips, Tutorials and Documentation" but one paragraph that I think is essential reading is the first section "What is an Audacity project? " on this page: http://w...

Re: Which version should I use?
I forgot to mention I have Windows XP Professional, if that makes any difference? That will probably make your life very much easier. For recording, the sound system on XP is very much easier to work with than on Vista/Windows 7. Getting to know all the ins and outs of your sound card, and knowing ...
