Re: Echo with Windows 7
What sort of "echo" is it? Is it like the type of "echo" that you get in a bathroom or is it a distinct repeat a fraction of a second after the original sound, or a distinct echo several seconds after the original sound, or something else? Does the echo occur when you are recordi...

Re: Speed change
I suspect the problem is that you are trying to mix audio with a 44100 Hz sample rate and audio with a 48000 Hz sample rate on the same track. Audacity 1.2.x does not support multiple sample rates on the same track. If you keep the imported files in their own tracks then you should not get the probl...

Re: Is benchmark meaningful?
many new pcs steal ram from the pc for the video Not likely to cause a problem unless the machine is short of RAM. For example, if the computer has 2 GB of RAM and 128 kB is used for the graphics card, the affect will be insignificant. See here for more information: http://www.intel.com/support/gra...

Re: Recording levels in Win 7
I don't use Win 7 myself, but I think Win 7 assumes that if it's a USB audio device, then it will be a microphone and so sets the recording level really high and the recording channels to mono. Check that the recording format is set to 2 channel stereo, and look to see if there are any microphone bo...

Re: Bug Using "Compress Dynamics"
"Compress Dynamics" is a third party plug-in and while we are happy to help where we can, bug issues should be addressed to the plug-in author. I'm aware of a problem with the Compress Dynamics plug-in that sounds very much like what you are describing, but I believe that Chris (the author...

Re: lower the background score
If you apply the "Amplify" effect with the default settings it will amplify the track as much as possible without creating distortion.

Re: Please help to Clean a very bad record ? :(
The best I can suggest is using a steep low pass filter and amplifying to bring it into the normal range ("Edit menu > Preferences > Quality" must be set to 32 bit float before importing). The result still sounds terrible. There's just too much damage. Running this code in the "Nyquis...

Re: Which Audacity clean-up effects should be distortion-fre
* 20 Hz high pass filter Beneficial for removing sub-sonic noise. No affect on the "audio" range (20 Hz to 20 kHz) * 20KHz low pass filter (probably a waste of time with 44100 Hz sampling) No benefit for 44100 Hz sample rate. No affect on the "audio" range (20 Hz to 20 kHz) * Cl...

Re: Is benchmark meaningful?
The actual play/record performance depends on a lot of other features in addition to the CPU speed. On old (very low power) PCs, the CPU was one of the most significant limitations on the performance of Audacity. However, with modern hardware, the CPU power is so much greater that other factors have...
