Changing the name does not change the format. It may work with Windows Media Player, but WMP is weird :)

Try changing the file extension back to .aac and see if Audacity can import it.

Re: Echo with Windows 7

Is there a way I can quickly provide a short sample of the effect? Short samples (a few seconds duration) can be uploaded directly to the forum by clicking on the "Upload Attachment" tab below the "compose message" window. To get a short sample out of Audacity as an audio file, ...

At that point a window should open for selecting the files that you want to open - You selected the files in that window, not some other window?

Re: squeaky noises

That's exactly what happens if you try to import an unsupported file type, so my guess is that your "MP3" is not a real MP3 format file, but some other unsupported format.

Re: Is possible to subtract one track from another ?

I can't think how you managed to do that :? (I'd be interested to know) Are the tracks mono or stereo? If they are mono, you can "subtract" one from the other by using the "Invert" effect, then mixing the inverted track with the other track. A couple of things to note: 1) When yo...

Re: Recovering file- I can't even find the "au" things

Try opening Audacity, then from the "Project" menu select "Import Audio". Navigate to the folder where the .au files are located, select the files that you want to import and click the "Open" button.

Re: Need notch filter but all there is is a doc to download

Be nice if one could save equalisation curves with the 15 band equaliser If you upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12 you can (one of the many improvements in the 1.3 version). Audacity 1.3 is officially a "beta" version, but it is a very late and well tested beta version - on most computers it is m...

Re: Recording levels in Win 7

I don´t think that been forced to set recording level in all devices to 0,1-1 out of 10 and stil get distorted recording signal, can be normal I agree that certainly sounds rather extreme. There may be some information in the Audacity documentation that I've missed, so if you want to have a look, t...
