Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity
The ideal solution is to remove the hiss at source so that it does not get into your recordings. How are you recording the guitar? Perhaps there could be suggestions as to how to record with less hiss. The "watery" (metallic bubbly sound) is damage caused by trying to remove too much noise...

Re: How to compute SPL from sound inputed from a microphone.
I think you are already pretty close to achieving what you want, but I'm not sure exactly what you want.
I'm also hoping that you know all of the ins-and-outs of weighted measurements because my theory knowledge gets a bit shaky there.

Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity
The noise removal in Audacity 1.3.12 is generally considered to be better than in 1.2.6.
The effect has been improved further since 1.3.12 was released so watch out for the next 1.3.x release.

Re: Recovering file- I can't even find the "au" things
I can't really help with that question - if automatic recovery does not work I just cut my losses and do the recording again. However, I can direct you to this page which contains all of the documentation on the subject: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/CrashRecovery

Re: Trying to record from browser initiated player
Also worth mentioning that Audacity 1.2.6 is known to have multiple problems on Windows 7. For Vista and Windows 7 you should use Audacity 1.3.12. (I have looked at the advice on http://audacityteam.org/help/fa ... =streaming but to no avail)? Did you followed the link to this page: http://wiki.auda...

Re: generate low frequency tones smoothly
I've deleted to duplicate topic as I presume that it was posted in error. 7.83 Hz should not sound like anything - it is below the threshold of human hearing. If you are playing a 7.83 Hz signal loudly you may be hearing the sound of the speaker banging against the end stops (which it does not usual...

Audacity 1.2.6 is known to be very buggy on Vista.
Try Audacity 1.3.12 and see if you still have a problem.

Re: Recording levels in Win 7
Just a thought - have you tried recording with "Sound Recorder" http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/9995-sound-recorder-open-use.html I think Sound Recorder is still limited to 60 seconds, but if you can get a decent recording level with sound recorder then we can duplicate how Sound Reco...

Re: Recording levels in Win 7
"Live 8" gets round the driver problem because it uses ASIO drivers. Unfortunately Audacity is not able to be distributed with ASIO drivers due to licensing restrictions. All the hardware are new (less than 2 years), high quality (and not broken as someone suggested). I don't doubt you. I ...

Re: Choosing Audacity Software version
I want stable. I want simple. I want as few problems as possible. Audacity 1.3.12 I read that 1.2.6 is stable. In my opinion that should be written in the past tense. "Audacity 1.2.6 was the stable version". Hardware and operating systems have moved on, leaving the 1.2.x branch as a "...
