Re: Audacity takes an age to load up, then crashes. ALSO..
Why does the beta crash all the time upon opening? It may be falling over an unsupported plug-in on your system (either an AudioUnits or VST plug-in). Usually the suggestion would be to temporarily disable AU and VST in Audacity Preferences, but it doesn't sound like Audacity is giving you that opp...

Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity
I'm willing to live with what most professionals would consider "crap" because I don't need anything fancy. I'm with you - Your question could be written "how do I get a less crap recording than my current really crap recording for about 50 bucks?" :D Have I got that right? So c...

Re: Defining Songs.
While you are still working on the project, "Save" it as an Audacity project. (Exporting as a WAV file is a good way to make backups). When you have finished, you will want to create a series of WAV files - one file for each track. These files can then be played individually, imported into...

Re: How to differentiate tracks?

Re: How to compute SPL from sound inputed from a microphone.
(snd-aargh (experience lisp me)) You do have a text editor that matches parentheses don't you? I started off using one that didn't and I had mismatched parentheses on every other line. Automatic syntax highlighting also helps a lot. Do you have these bookmarks? http://www.audacity-forum.de/download/...

Re: How to compute SPL from sound inputed from a microphone.
Oh good :) So what is this "replacement" thing that you want? So I could read chunks of data from the sound, and calculate the average of each array using some regular lisp array average function? You can read chunks of data from the sound, but I'm not aware of a lisp array average functio...

Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity
If you could push it to about 70 bucks you should be able to pick up a USB large diaphragm condenser microphone. I'm not a big fan of USB recording microphones, but in this price range it is probably the best option. Cheap sound cards are notorious for having noisy microphone inputs (particularly la...
