Re: Audacity takes an age to load up, then crashes. ALSO..

Thanks for the file Koz. @ Zimon, let's try a minimal audacity.cfg file with VST and AudioUnits effects disabled. Open the audacity.cfg file in a text editor and delete everything, then copy and paste the following into the file and save. NewPrefsInitialized=1 [AudioUnits] Enable=0 GUI=0 [Ladspa] En...

Re: Audacity takes an age to load up, then crashes. ALSO..

Make a backup copy of the audacity.cfg file, the delete all of those VST entries except for the first "[VST]" The immediately after [VST] add the lines: Enable=0 GUI=0 Rescan=0 I'm not sure of the exact syntax that's used on Macs so I've asked one of the other forum elves if he can send me...

Re: I have no Wave Out or Stereo Mix options

Please do not suggest going to the Recording tab and right-clicking and selecting "Show Disabled Devices" because that does not work. If the required options are not shown after you have selected "Show disabled devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices", then the options...

Re: basic editing cutting and pasting to new file

1) Upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12 2) Import one of the recordings. 3) Find a part that you want to use and "select" it (click and drag across the track with the mouse). (Tip - select a bit more than you really want - you can trim it down accurately later) 4) Press Ctrl+D (duplicates the select...

Could you tell us more about how you did that, or perhaps a patch?
I'd like to try it out, but I'm not a programmer and I don't think I'd be able to work it out myself.

Re: audacity panning

When panning to the right, the right channel is unaltered and the left channel is reduced on a linear amplitude scale. When panning to the left, the left channel is unaltered and the right channel is reduced on a linear amplitude scale. For example, panning half way to the left (-0.5) will result in...

Re: Saving as compressed project (wide size variation)

Other times I get a 250-400MB project with an e00 subdirectory using most of the space. This is somewhat comparable in size to the uncompressed project. That sounds like it is an ordinary project and not a compressed project. Assuming that you did not accidentally select "Save Project As...&qu...
