Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity

I would not recommend a Shure SM57 or SM58 for recording acoustic guitar, and I certainly would not recommend a "knock-off" version for the job. I don't know about the mxl 990, I've never used one, but the reviews are mixed. I would be happy to recommend the T-Bone SC450 or any of the more...

Re: PLUG-IN: ODD ECHO5

Learned some cool things on this one, like how to find the length of audio using SND-TIME. but perhaps not such a good idea to use it in public plug-ins. (snd-time sound) Returns the start time of the sound. This will probably go away in a future version, so use snd-t0 instead. http://www.audacity-...

Wish List - Preview button for 'process' plug-ins

It would be very useful if Nyquist effect plug-ins could provide a preview like other effects can. Pressing the Preview button would send only the first n seconds of the selection to Nyquist and output the result to the sound card. The plug-in interface would remain open after the preview to allow t...

Wish List - GUI designer module

A module that enables the creation of more versatile GUIs for Nyquist plug-ins. Ideally the module would enable the creation of interfaces with additional widgets, including: Horizontal sliders, Vertical sliders, Rotary controls, Text input (single or multiple line), Check boxes, Drop down menus. Th...

Wish List - HTML links

The ability to put html links into a plug-in GUI would solve the current (severe) limitations of displaying help screens.

Re: Audacity-Nyquist wish list - Peak level

Currently the only data passed from Audacity to Nyquist is the selected audio data (in the global variable "s") Due to the problems* in Audacity-Nyquist for calculating the peak level for long tracks, it would be a very useful feature if the peak level of the audio was also sent to Nyquist...

Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity

From what I understand it would..... From what I understand, that is correct. Hopefully bgravato can confirm. it says left and right input... does that mean your vocals will only come out of the left speaker and the guitar will only come out of the right speaker? When you initially record, yes it w...

Re: need more gain - peavey or ????

The Behringer Xenyx mixer pre-amps get a bit noisy when the gain is turned up to maximum.
Several of the ART pre-amps can provide up to 70 dB of gain (which is huge).

Re: Recording in stereo.

Check which version of Audacity you are using (look in Audacity "Help menu > About Audacity). I would highly recommend the 1.3.12 version, and if you have an earlier version for you to upgrade. In Audacity 1.3.12, go to "Edit > Preferences > Devices" and select "Channels: 2 (ster...
