still getting the red flags
What do you mean by "the red flags"?
Are you referring to the green / red triangle on the left hand end of the Timeline (time ruler)?

Re: Missing the < and > on audacity horizontal scrollbar

The scrollbar's < > buttons appear to be going out of fashion. I notice that Firefox stopped having them since using gtk3 in 2016.

Re: Missing the < and > on audacity horizontal scrollbar

Seems like a regression somewhere among the audacity dependencies. No, it's a "feature" of the Desktop environment - the scrollbar is a "native" control, hence why it changes when you use a different Desktop environment. It really has very little to do with Audacity, other than ...

Re: Rhythm Track re-records on every track

If you can get one at a reasonable price (around $25 - $30), I'd suggest a Behringer UCA-202. Unfortunately it seems that the price for these little devices has gone through the roof in the US, if you can get them at all. These devices have 2 line-in and 2 line-out connectors (phono connectors), a U...

Re: Version 2.4.2, Opening an mp3 file for editing - something about FFmpeg

Maybe I should be trying these links from the download page; This is what is so strange - no additional libraries or plug-ins are required to import a standards compliant MP3 file. The test tone that I posted is a standards compliant MP3, so it should just import with no fuss and no messages of any...

Re: Version 2.4.2, Opening an mp3 file for editing - something about FFmpeg

I'm not really sure why you are questioning the version that I have installed. If a program does something (such as telling you to download an update) which the program does not have the ability to do, then that rings alarm bells for me. "https://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/" is...

Re: Installing Audacity

We don't officially support Chromebook, and I don't have one myself.
Is there a help forum for Chromebook users?

Re: Version 2.4.2, Opening an mp3 file for editing - something about FFmpeg

Your questions seems to suggest that somehow I've been taken off piste and found myself with a fake version or something? Audacity does not prompt for updates. You can check for updates in "Help menu > Check for Updates" (which opens your default web browser on the Audacity website downlo...

almost like the button is stuck
If the "Pause" button becomes stuck down every time you try to record, it's probably because you've accidentally enabled "sound activated recording". You can turn that off in "Transport menu > Transport Options".
