The decibel scale in Audacity, as with most other audio applications is Decibels relative to full scale ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DBFS )sarah.a wrote:I have tried the decibel scale but it returns negative results (-36) which is ridiculous.

Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity
That one I have used. Sound quality is pretty good. The box is plastic. Sometimes it does not initialise correctly after the computer is rebooted, but to fix that you just need to use "Safely remove hardware" and remove 2 drivers, then switch it off for a few seconds, then switch it back o...

Re: I get a watery sound when removing noise in audacity
I think that device is solid state (no tubes). http://www.artproaudio.com/products.asp ... t=9&id=150
The maximum gain is somewhat lower than the tube version. http://www.artproaudio.com/products.asp ... t=9&id=124

Re: New MAC user - old PC user
"Computer microphones" almost always have a "stereo" jack. This is not because they are stereo, but because they are "electret" microphones and require a low voltage (5 v) power supply to operate. The additional connection on the mini-jack plug is used to supply a low v...

Re: SAVING PROJECT
Ooh, all those upper case letters are hard on my tired old eyes :( Audacity works with "Projects". An Audacity Project is made up of two parts - there is a ".AUP" file (Audacity Project File) and a "_data" folder that contains audio data. The actual "sounds" i...

Re: dolby b and c
Unlike Dolby B, Dolby C is in my experience much more forgiving of playback without Dolby decoding. For Dolby B the encoding/decoding was heavily biased on the "pre-emphasis/de-emphasis" of high frequencies, (but also dependant on the level). The result is that playback without decoding al...

Re: Noise Gate
Yes it will be version 2.3
I expect this will be the final version unless there are any major upgrades to Audacity-Nyquist.
