Re: abrupt loss of audio though waveform is present
...you can tell audacity to... Projects > Copy all audio...(safest). Audacity will then pull all your music inside itself for editing and you don't have to worry about deleting anything by accident. Generally a good idea (definitely safer), though it can slow down the work flow when working with lo...

Re: 16 v 24 bit noise floor
Sonar LE (supplied with the UA-1G) has an option to "Share (ASIO) drivers with other programs". I activated it, but from the results I guess it does not share with Audacity. Almost forgot this bit :D To use ASIO drivers with Audacity you must build Audacity from the source code with ASIO ...

Re: 16 v 24 bit noise floor
Is this very different appearance because of the 16-bit recording limit in Audacity? Yes, that's what it looks like. Though to be clear, the 16 bit limitation is not in Audacity itself, but is said to be a limitation of how Portaudio accesses data from Windows sound card drivers. Why are the spikes...

Re: Recording Sounds Like I'm in a Tunnel
check realtek that the tunnel effect is not turned on under sound effects That would affect imported files played in Audacity, not just sounds that have been recorded, and it would not account for the sound quality of the recording that Radleigh posted. Do you not agree that it does not sound like ...

Re: Recording Sounds Like I'm in a Tunnel
Does your computer have a built in microphone? (set at) Microphone Realtek High Defini That is not the Blue Snowball, that's your computer sound card. The Blue Snowball is a USB microphone isn't it? With USB audio devices the device must be connected and recognised by the operating system before you...

Re: Recording Sounds Like I'm in a Tunnel
Could you make a very short recording (about 3 seconds), export it as a WAV file and upload it to the forum (upload tab is below the compose message window).
In Audacity "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices", what settings do you currently have and what other options are there?
