Re: cannot record!
Try upgrading to Audacity 1.3.12 - it is the recommended version for Vista and Win 7.

Re: Exporting Problem to WMP 12/Windows 7
1) What is different about the song labels from the metadata (album/artist) that MP recognizes the former but not the latter? Unfortunately there is no standard format for metadata. About the closest thing to a "standard" is "id3 v1", but this is considered obsolete. id3 v.2 has...

Re: Importing Audio file
You don't have to "import" anything. Launch Audacity and File > Open. Yes, you can do that, but I wish you couldn't because it is inconsistent and confusing, particularly for new users. We go to great lengths to stress that Audacity does not edit audio files. Audacity creates projects tha...

Re: choose microphone for art project
thx for the hint - but I'm surprised: you think a desktop mic is a good choice? I think that desktop mic is a good choice. Have a listen to Kozikowski's audio samples - to get anything appreciably better you will need a microphone pre-amp as well as a microphone, which will push the price up consid...

Re: Importing Audio file
Audacity cannot import directly from audio CDs. (the data on audio CDs are not "files" - it is just a stream of digital data with small "CDA" files that point to where the data is that belongs to each track). To get tracks off an audio CD into Audacity you need to "Rip"...

Re: Exporting Problem to WMP 12/Windows 7
It's not your fault. The problem is due to limitations with metatag data. Very few programs support metatag data in WAV files. Audio CDs do not support metatag data either. WMP is able to recognise commercial CDs from the disk id. It is also able to read Metatag data (id3 tags) from MP3 and WMA file...

Re: Only one channel
dont you have to put stereo into the behringer to get stereo out of it ? If you are using one of the mono inputs, the output will be in left/right channels as determined by the position of the channel Pan (balance) control (and the master Left/Right controls). On the stereo inputs, for most Behring...

Re: My projects will not open
Should I try the beta version with XP? Will that be better? Yes, try Audacity 1.3.12 (I use it regularly on Windows XP and find it to be very good and reliable). This will cause me a problem though in that I will want to stitch projects together, eg two sides of an lp if recorded at different times...

Re: Importing Audio file
Does the file play correctly in Audacity before you try to remove the vocals? If so, then the problem is that your track is mono. Vocal Removal (otherwise known as "Centre Pan Removal") is based on the idea that in many stereo recordings, the main vocal is in the exact centre of the stereo...
