Re: Vinyl Recording Problem with Channel Axis?
The soundcard is a Realtek AC 97, running on XP, with a Technics record player plugged in through the line-in. Check to see if you still get the right channel off-set if you record (silence) with nothing plugged into the line in (disconnect the lead from the record player end so that the jack plug ...

Re: dolby b and c
not likely to find a dolby cassette these days See here: http://www.google.com/products?q=cassette%20deck If a person is unable to distinguish the difference between playback with/without Dolby B, they have a major problem, either with their hearing or with their equipment or their listening enviro...

Re: 12-Bit Recording
I am trying to digitally emulate Emu SP-1200 sampling capabilities, for drum samples. Possibly a greater influence on the characteristic sound of the EMU SP-1200 was its filter circuitry. I found the spec. sheet for the filter chips that are used in the EMU SP-1200 which may be of interest: http://...

Re: File formats & data loss?
I'll stick to 16-16-16 all the way through for "straight" work, "Straight" work would be just "cut, paste, delete". For anything else (such as Amplify, Normalize, Noise Removal, Equalization ....) there is an overall quality (and performance) advantage in running 16 > ...

Re: NO SAMPLE RESET FOR NOISE REDUCTION 1.3.12 BETA
Maybe you are telling me that the sampling bar is not always shown?? That's right. Usually the "Get Noise Profile" step is so quick that Audacity does not show a progress bar. It will probably be worth you watching out for the next Audacity release as there have been some significant impr...

Re: wave files are huge after export?
audacity version: (the lastest one, whatever that is...downloaded it about 2 months ago) There are 2 "current" release versions. 1.2.6 is the old "stable" version (still available for download but virtually obsolete) 1.3.12 is the new "beta" version - I would highly re...

Re: Determining dBFS levels in selection
Someone on the forum recently was looking into making a plug-in for Audacity to show this type of information. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 21&t=15153

Re: Determining dBFS levels in selection
In practice I usually find it sufficient to look at the waveform - a height of +/- 0.5 = -6 dB, +/- 0.25 = -12 dB .... A more precise measurement of the peak level can be determined by selecting the required region then selecting the "Amplify" effect from the Effect menu (don't apply the e...

Re: Horror of Horrors
I had this disappearing Audacity, too. But when I right-click on the Audacity rectangle in the Taskbar (Windows 2000), I can click Maximize, which gives me a full-screen Audacity panel. The difficulty arises when I try to use the "Restore Size" button (next to the X button in the top righ...
