Re: karaoke function
Say you are recording stuff now, when you say a word to the mic, you simultaneously hear the word from the speaker. It may be possible to configure your sound system to do that, but it is not an "Audacity" feature. For recording purposes it is a bad idea to have the sound coming out of yo...

Re: Removing music and keeping vocals
I can't imagine that any respected audio professional would ever make such a basic mistake. If you wish to quote a "recognised audio professional", please post a link to where they have published this information. My concern here is not whether or not you have the last word, or whether you...

Re: Changing volume in a section of a track
There is part of the sound track I am working on that needs to be louder. How do I do this? If it only needs to be a little bit louder you can use the "Envelope Tool" (the button to select the Envelope Tool has two small triangle one above the other with a blue line between them - it can ...

Re: network drives...
Audacity requires fast, continuous access to the had drive during record and playback. It is possible to record onto a network drive but it is not recommended because any interruption to the writing/reading of data between Audacity and the drive will cause data loss. It is being used for recording s...

Re: 3.12 Vulnerabilities
Audacity 1.3.12 is the "last" version.
Which version have you done a "security scan" with, and how did you do the security scan?
You can find the Audacity version number by looking in the Audacity "Help menu > About Audacity".

Re: Help!I uninstalled and Reinstalled and I'm Lost!
At the bottom of the "Transport" menu - Set "Overdub" to "on" (selected) Set "Software Playthrough" to "off" (not selected). Now when I try to ad Track 2 It makes a Stereo Track instead of a Single Track Go to "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices&...

Re: Determining dBFS levels in selection
Is this plug-in of any use to you?
Copy this file into your Audacity Plug-ins folder, then restart Audacity. The effect will appear in the "Effect" menu listed as "Wave Stats".

Re: Determining dBFS levels in selection
Ideally, an Analyze Selection window could always remain open, The ability for effects to stay open would be useful in other situations too (for example with multiple pass effects such as Noise Removal). I think any 'dBFS at cursor' would have to be just that particular position, Would it not be be...
