I've not got Audacity 1.2.6 on this computer but you need to find the option "Software Playthrough" in Preferences and switch it off (deselect).
Try looking in "Edit menu > Preferences > Audio I/O"

Did you use Nero for that?
Does your Optical drive support DAO and did you have that selected in Nero?
Do you hear clicks if you play the CD in a standalone audio CD player?

What settings do you have in
"Edit menu > Preferences > Devices"
and
"Edit menu > Preferences > Quality"
