Re: Audio on video clips

You will need to use a video editing program to split the audio out of the video and stitch it back in again, but yes Audacity can be used to edit/process the audio once you have extracted it from the video. However, if all you want to do is to adjust the volume, then most video editing packages sho...

Re: export wav files

I know what the CD burning software is on the computers that I use. One has Nero and the others have have CDBurnerXP. I also have Audacity 1.3.13 installed on one, and 1.3.12 installed on the others. Choosing my own software is one of the perks of my job ;) I've not yet persuaded the right people to...

Converting numbers to strings and strings to lists

A couple of simple but useful functions. Hopefully this will save someone several hours of scouring Google. To test the code, copy and paste it into the Nyquist Prompt effect and press the DEBUG button to see the output ; function to convert a number to a string (defun number-to-string (number) (for...

Re: Distortion Analyzer

Due to changes in Audacity/Nyquist, the Distortion Analyzer plug-in posted previously in this topic does not work with the current (1.3.12) version of Audacity. Here is an updated version that supports recent versions of Audacity 1.3.x There are a few other minor changes, such as adding a 30 second ...

Re: Overdubbing

Most of the basic information is covered by the Make a Podcast tutorial: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Creating_a_simple_voice_and_music_Podcast_with_Audacity Other than that, I don't think there is one. The main issue that causes problems for multi-track recording is setting up the sound card c...

Re: Audacity and latency

Audacity does not, and in my opinion should not mess with process priorities. People use Audacity on all sorts of computers for all sorts of purposes, not just on dedicated audio/music machines. How a person wants to optimise their computer should be up to them, and not dictated by software vendors....

See here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Split ... ate_tracks
Note that when the article talks about adding names to labels, that is optional - during the "Export multiple" step there is an option for the segments to be numbered automatically.

Re: Empty Void / Endless Abyss (Echo Effect)

This is what the stretched version of "alone beneath the stars" sounds like using Audacity's "Change Tempo without Changing pitch" (very stuttery). Have you tried using the "Sliding Time Scale/Pitch Shift" effect? stars.mp3 [I would like to have the "PaulStretch&q...
