Display corruption
Not much of a problem as this only occurs if a track is stretched vertically to an extreme amount.
No other display problems are evident on this computer with Audacity or other applications.
Ubuntu 9.04 - Audacity 1.3.13 Unicode SVN August 19th

Re: Transferring WAV file
Does it not tell you in the digital 8 track recorder manual?
If you've not got the manual they are often available on-line from the manufacturers web site.

Re: Two different mono channels in 1 track
Very thorough ignatz. There's also a lot of keyboard and mouse shortcuts that can make it a lot quicker (see bottom of post). I tried a couple of other variations that will probably play back on both L and R channels, but these other variations showed as a single channel when reopened in Audacity. I...

Re: Audacity and latency
Don't you still have to put the appropriate numbers in the boxes for latency adjust manually? Yes that's right. The method is covered pretty well in the article. http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Latency_Test Once it's been set up, then it's automatic assuming that you don't change the...

Re: Recording an audiobook - getting consistent levels from
although I tried to place the mic exactly the same way each time, and have the mic level consistent, my levels from chapter to chapter vary a bit. If you're talking about a fairly small amount of variation, then that is to be expected. If you're talking about a big difference, then there's a proble...

Re: Importance of Recording Levels for 16-Bit?
Probably Steve is the best person to go into details, though I don't think there is much need - I think that Gale and Koz have covered the question thoroughly. The only thing that I might add is that while 14 bit audio is not "audiophile" quality, it is not as bad as many people assume. E...

Re: Two different mono channels in 1 track
I created an .aup project that is one track of two +++different+++ mono recordings--one on the L channel and one on the right. How best to cut one channel and append (paste) to the end of the other? What exactly are you doing? Transferring two mono recordings from the same side of a reel-to-reel ta...

Re: Audacity and latency
I can see exactly how much latency I get? And then there is a function in Audacity which automatically corrects the tracks that long back, every time I record? That's about the size of it - and "latency" should cease to be a problem. Most multi-track audio programs use similar tricks, tho...

Re: Improving sound
You mean "Radio Compression"?rkhanen wrote:(go to 2:30) and I was wondering if anything similar can be achieved with audacity?
Yes, you can do that really well using Chris's Dynamic Compressor plug-in for Audacity.
