Nyquist and Shannon give a much better explanation than I could ever give : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nyquist%E2 ... ng_theorem

If that clip is from a chorus, you may be able to copy a short section (the equivalent section) from another chorus and use it to replace the section with the talking.

Re: Help Removing Background Talking From Recording

The talker wasn't a performer They are now - as far as your recording is concerned they are a permanent part of the show. If you are making an "official" recording of the band, it is a good idea to take a recording directly off the mixing desk - this can be added/mixed with the camera rec...

Re: I want to record at maximum vol. but with my speakers lo

Plugging in headphones should make no difference to the recorded waveform, though turning down the playback volume will reduce the level of the recording when you are recording "Stereo Mix".

Which version of Windows are you using?

Re: Importance of Recording Levels for 16-Bit?

You are in the land of 16 bit while you are recording (and when exporting - assuming that you are using a 16 bit file format as the destination) If you have the default "Quality" setting to 32 bit float (Edit menu > Preferences > Quality), then once the audio has been recorded you will hav...

Re: Importance of Recording Levels for 16-Bit?

That all sounds fine. I have been led to believe that in digital land (Audacity/WAV/mp3), level settings are not nearly as critical. Correct - not as critical, but while in the land of 16 bit a degree of care must still be taken. Once it's into a 32 bit (float) Audacity track, then the levels become...

Try these instructions - this method generally works when other methods fail: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 34&p=81604

Do you have a volume control on your speakers?
If not, use headphones.

Re: Importance of Recording Levels for 16-Bit?

When I record LPs (and indeed also FM off-air) I aim for a max level of around -6 dB. Unlike Steve's one-off setting suggestion, I recalibrate/reset for each LP. There is absolutely no harm in doing that, though if using a USB turntable it may be more work than really necessary. The assumption in n...

Re: Importance of Recording Levels for 16-Bit?

Sorry - we've cross-posted here, so the topic has gone a little out of order. How does one reliably do that? For USB devices on Win XP or Linux you would normally have the recording level set at maximum, then adjust the level of what you are recording (the turntable volume control). I'm not sure wha...
