Re: More specific MP3 data control (explained)
#1 When I encode my audio files to MP3 and such, there is no option for "Private/Copyright/Original bit" to be set? -That must be fixed. "Must"? I don't think that it's practical for Audacity to try and support every variation of metadata for every file type and every vendor var...

Re: CCIT U-Law, 8kHz, 8-bit, mono
For "ADPCM U-law CCITT 8 bit" select "Other Uncompressed Files" as the format in the Export Dialogue screen, then click on the Options button and select WAV > U-law For a 8 kHz bit rate you need to set the Project Rate to 8000 before you export (bottom left corner of the main Aud...

Re: search track for file-based sound byte
I wounder if you could do something really out there like use the station ID as a profile for Noise Reduction. Apply it and look for the holes. Koz That works, (tested with a 3.5 second jingle) though the noise removal settings need to be severe and so cause a lot of damage to the audio, so after r...

Re: Creating Continous horn sound
As Koz has said, the loop points are the most important thing. You are looking for a place where the start and ends of the loop match up as closely as possible. "Zero crossing points" (where the waveform crosses the centre line) are often used as the (zero) amplitude at each end of the loo...

Re: WAV files, Metatags, versus Windows Media Player
my biggest beef is not the size but rather the long amount of elapsed time that iTunes take to fire up The other effect of excessive bloat. (I) didn't want to start burning discs just to make the gorilla happy. I've got two to fix this way...maybe three...and anticipate more to come, so I thought &...

Re: Applying Effects from command line
Hi, I use Audacity GUI to make an original recording and save it as both a project and use export to mp3. However, for most of these I also need to a 2nd version of the mp3 which has had one of the effects i.e. change pitch or tempo applied. Writing a shell script to scan a dir and notice if any ne...

Re: search track for file-based sound byte
Do you mean that a "specific file" has been imported and exists at several locations, or do you mean a "similar sound-byte"? If you mean a specific imported file, and if it was an uncompressed file, and if it was not copied into the data folder, then it will be listed in the AUP ...
