Re: Exporing to mp3 quality question

I would recommend sticking with 44.1kHz if that's going to be your final sample rate. I'm watching a tutorial video series on "secrets of the pros" for recording. It mentions recording in 88.2Mhz sample rate b/c CDs are 44.1 and if that's your final product, that it's better b/c it "e...

Re: Exporting from Audacity

You are correct. Stick with lossless formats or you'll be loosing a bit of sound quality every time.

Re: How to know volume?

The truncate silence tool seems to only be adjustable in multiples of 5 dB. I can't fine-tune it to -32.6 dB? You can use the "Sound Finder" in the Analyze menu. Fine tune it so that it selects the sounds that you want to keep. When you apply it, it will create a label track. Make sure th...

Re: How to know volume?

"Volume" is a rather fuzzy term. There is "peak amplitude" (the maximum or minimum peak within the selection) There is "RMS" level (the "root mean square" - a kind of "average" - level within the selection) There is "loudness" (not an exact...

Re: Mix And Render Question

You may have accidentally nudged the volume slider in the box on the left end of the track.
The volume and pan slider settings are "applied" (rendered) when you use the Mix and Render function.

Re: Scripting Timer, Chain, and Export

though I looked around and did not find what I needed. No you won't find it in the manual. Audacity is designed as a graphical application and it can do very little from the command line (basically just open a file). One person on the forum has done quite a lot of customising of Audacity so that he...

Re: select and delete audio between labels

I don't think that you can do the entire operation through the keyboard when using point labels. Probably the best that you can do is to select the label track, (Click on label track then SHIFT+HOME then SHIFT+END) then Alt+I to split at the markers. Deleting sections would then need the mouse to do...

Re: select and delete audio between labels

Could you be more specific. Do you mean "point" labels (markers) or "region" labels? Do you need to do it entirely through the keyboard or with a mouse? What exactly are you wanting to do?
