Re: Poor quality recording
The recording quality with "Timer" recordings should be exactly the same as normal recording. If there is a noticeable sound quality difference between the sound that you hear playing the stream in your browser and playing back the recorded audio then there is most likely something set up ...

Re: Project won't open after saving
I assume that the file ndc-ws-08292010.aup and the folder ndc-ws-08292010_data are in their original locations on the disk? If they are, then the AUP file looks fine as far as I can see. If they have been moved or renamed, they need to be changed back. If they have not been moved or renamed you coul...

Re: Workflow questions & Chris' Compression
As for the effect Amplify, might it cause any artifacts or does is merely raise the amplitude to the max. ignatz has covered most of the points. The Amplify effect will "merely" raise the amplitude to whatever you have set it to. If you set it too high the OK button is (by default) greyed...

Re: Question on PCM audio import
I read up, and found ADPCM is 4 bit, but importing as ADPCM creates audio that is extremely clipped There are several different versions of ADPCM encoding. I'm not sure which version Audacity uses, but it may be using the wrong one. Can I use SoX http://sox.sourceforge.net/ audio converter to conve...

Re: Adjusting the BPM of a track
First off, update Audacity to 1.3.12 (it contains some important bug fixes). You don't need to uninstall 1.3.11, just install 1.3.12 over the top of it and your Preferences settings will be retained. Ive tried adjusting the BPM via 3 different tracks using the change speed and change tempo of the ef...

Re: Error while opening sound device - honest, I've really t
My system is up to date according to Adept. but not really up to date - the current version of Ubuntu is 10.04 LTS I'm not trying to record. I'm just trying to mix together several different MP3s and WAVs. Whether you are recording or not, Audacity needs to be able to access both a recording device...

Re: Audacity Completely Freezes Laptop
Search your computer for the file "audacity.cfg" (you will probably need to enable searching for hidden files). It should be in the folder: Users<user name>AppDataRoamingAudacity Open audacity.cfg in NotePad or another text editor and look for the following lines: [VST] Enable=1 GUI=1 Resc...

If you are still unable to get it working, then perhaps it is just not compatible with Audacity.

Re: Cut/Delete Malfunction
If you get this problem with just one particular project then it is likely that the project is damaged. Try starting a new project and test if the problem occurs with that. If the problem is with just the one project and you need to salvage what you can, open a new project and copy each of the track...

Re: Erasing and adding
Upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12 You can have both the 1.2.6 and 1.3.12 versions installed on the same machine but Audacity 1.2.x cannot open projects that have been saved by the later 1.3.x version. When you delete a bad bit there may be a "split" line at the point that you deleted (depending o...
