Re: White Noise/Feedback During Recording

Thanks, that rules out a lot of possibilities. Only the microphones are enabled in the recording section of the sound cards mixer application. What happens if you change it to recording from a different input, for example the CD or the Line input? I presume that you are using headphones to monitor w...

Re: "Unhandled Exception" message keeps occurring

I will say this: another problem I was having (where the playback kept getting all "jerky" and computery-sounding) was helped by using the "mix and render" feature to combine three tracks together. When playback starts to get "all jerky" it means that your system is ge...

Re: Error while opening sound device - honest, I've really t

Re: HowTo: Remove dither noise from silence

Maybe a note why this is better than the built-in Noise Removal for this scenario would be useful to some? I presume it's because Noise Removal will produce artifacts, Yes it does. Noise Removal can reduce the dither noise by about 30 dB, which is just enough to push shaped noise below the bottom b...

Re: Audacity beta won't appear as program in "Open With" - W

The problem is due to a limitation in Windows that prevents setting up an association if there is a second program with the same file name (audacity.exe) You may be able to get round it with this tool: http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/ContextEdit-Download-78704.html Alternatively, change the na...
