Re: Distorted audio recording from line in
my recordings(through Headphone line in)have been fine but for some reason, all of a sudden, I'm getting buzzing & bass distortion when recording streaming audio. I keep reading this phrase and it's bugging me. How/what were you previously recording? How/what are you now trying to record? Have ...

Re: Why does Audacity have to transcode when splitting?
The beauty of MP3Spit is that it does not decode the MP3 so it does not need to "remember" what the original format was - it just splits the original file and creates the necessary file headers so that the output file(s) work. This is a completely different way of working from Audacity. In...

Re: TIVO style
There's an application for Linux called Jack Time Machine that starts recording 10 seconds before you press the record button. It does this by maintaining a 10 second cache of audio data which is written to the hard drive when you press the record button. The length of time that is held in the cache...

Re: Delete between labels
I see four kinds of tracks -- Audio, Stereo, Label, and Time. Oops, I forgot "Time" tracks, but they're just a bit weird anyway :) double-clicking in Audio, Stereo and Label all result in ALL of the audio being selected Just considering mono and stereo tracks for a moment. That is only tr...

Re: Audio issues recording from cassettes
Played it on my Windows Media Player, and it was playing ok Good - that was just to establish that Audacity is actually recording correctly. So onto getting sound out of Audacity: In Audacity "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices" Could you list what options are available, and which options ...

Re: Audio issues recording from cassettes
Try this: Record something. Apply the "Amplify" effect to the recoding using the default settings. Check that the "Project Rate" (lower left corner of the Audacity window) is set to 44100 (change it to 44100 if necessary). Export as a 16 bit WAV file. Try playing the exported fil...
